ABOUT

Michelle Hei is an American actress and singer. Michelle holds a B.A. from Dartmouth College in Music – Vocal Performance and Economics, and a minor in Human-Centered Design. Her experiences span studying music abroad in Vienna, Austria, serving as Music Director for the ‘Dartmouth Dodecaphonics’ a cappella group, appearing in the Dartmouth Mainstage Theater production of ‘Into the Woods’ as ‘Rapunzel’, and collaborating with student thesis filmmakers, starring in leading roles for her on-screen debut.

Born in Orlando, Florida, her parents were immigrants to the U.S. from Taiwan and Vietnam, granting Michelle the rich experience of being a multicultural first generation American. Michelle is trilingual in English, Chinese (Mandarin) and Spanish, and picked up a knack for tongues learning to sing in countless other languages through musical repertoire growing up.

By the age of 5, Michelle had already demonstrated a love for performing arts – studying piano, ballet, and gymnastics, as well as spinning plates and ribbon dancing in her Acrobatic Troupe at the Chinese School. By age 9, she began singing lessons and took to public speaking in English and Chinese by storm, with the first of many victories at her 5th grade speech competition.

At 11, poised for the stage, Michelle made her musical theater stage debut as ‘Rapunzel’ in Into the Woods Jr. Michelle would go on to appear in many more musical theatre productions throughout her adolescence, igniting her passion for acting and training performance skills along the way.
